The Story

The Ouessant Salt Mill features Peugeot’s hard-wearing grinding mechanism under an acrylic body that displays the ingredient’s natural beauty. The patented Zirlion mechanism is corrosion-proof and backed by a lifetime warranty.

---DETAILS---

The French company Peugeot may be most commonly associated with cars, but they actually made spice mills first, far back in 1874. In the 146 years since, no other salt and pepper mills have stayed as sharp, resisted corrosion as well, and last as long, which is why nobody in the culinary industry would hesitate to call them ‘iconic’. The grinding mechanism of this salt mill is made from medical-grade zirconia, which stays sharp over a lifetime of use (and is backed by a warranty). Zirlion mills excel at producing a finer, more consistent grind. This patented mechanism grinds a wide variety of dry salts, including flaky salt, with utmost precision. In its finest grind, you can use less salt with no loss of flavour. The design takes its name from an island off the coast of Brittany, famous for its salt. The knob on the top of the mill can be adjusted to obtain your ideal grind: the tighter the knob, the finer the salt. A matching pepper mill is sold separately.

Note: These mills cannot be used with wet salt like fleur de sel or grey salt.

---BENEFITS---

'Peugeot's patented Zirlion mills are the world's first corrosion-proof (and lifetime-lasting) salt mills. It grinds salt finer and more consistently than mills made with any other material. At the finest setting, you can use less salt with no effect on flavour. This is exactly the kind of smart, innovative engineering that has made their pepper and salt mills a fixture in restaurant tables around the world.'
